CARB On-Road Heavy-Duty Diesel-Fueled Public and Utility Fleet Regulations

CARB Regulation Mandates
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) On-Road Heavy-Duty Diesel-Fueled Public and Utility Fleets regulation mandates Public Agency and utility vehicle owners reduce diesel particulate matter (PM) emissions from their affected vehicles through the application of Best Available Control Technology (BACT) on these vehicles by specified implementation dates. Implementation is phased-in by engine model year groups.

This regulation applies to any municipality or utility that owns, leases or operates on-road diesel-fueled heavy-duty vehicles with a 1960-2006 model year engine and a manufacturer’s gross vehicle weight rating greater than 14,000 lbs.
